Mike Vester
Vocals / Guitar
I didn't start out as a singer. I learned the guitar (almost overnight -really about 3 months) and started a band with my good friend Luis Coronado. We called the band LOCKET. This would later change to FEELTRIP, which gave way to LIMBO STROLL. Through all of this, good friends would come and go with all of these great projects...J.P., John, Mark, Matt, Rico, Eric, Chris, Jimbo, Doug, Marty, and Greg...(Jon and Ken - though not in the band fueled my desire by supporting the hell out of it! You guys rock!).
In 2000 I met Mr. Beau Carbonneau and we jammed in LIMBO STROLL. It was THUMP at first site. He and Ricky (Rolon) had jammed for many years together in Section 8. Matt Rock is back in the fold now (we played together about 9 years before) after a 6 year lay off. And so, we are Broken Vegas. I love this band! My bandmates are brothers...there are no better musicians, friends, etc...that I could be involved with.
Early one, I became the singer because we couldn't find one. I stayed the singer because I grew to love it! I worked at it all the time. And with the help of one Sheryl M. Rak vocal therapist extraordinaire, I became the singer I am today.
Motley Crue, Dokken, Jovi, and VanHalen drew me in, but David Coverdale (Whitesnake) made me want to be a front man. From there I took some from Bach (Sebastian not Johan), Hetfield, Tate, Cornell, and Morrison, and created the neurotic beast known as Mike Vester - Vocal Dude. Yes, a product of 80's metal, I listened to Metallica, Megadeth, Tesla, Judas Priest, Ozzy, the Crue, Queensryche, Anthrax, etc...and picked amongst the bands of the 90's that had some musicianship (Nirvana, Soundgarden, King's X, STP, Rage, Brother Cane, and many more).
Things you may not know about me - I like Guiness, Pacifico (in Cabo), Corona, Jack Daniels, Captain Morgans, and Red Bull and Vodka (but screwdrivers on show nights). However, I have a taste for just about any drink as long as it's not red in color. I'm a huge Bears fan with season tickets (no, don't ask! lol) and love creative writing for which I have to my credit, 3 screenplays, a 4 act play (performed in 2003), and number of short stories, skits, etc...that I hope to publish when I'm done jumping up and down like a maniac on stage.
I like songs that speak to the soul, whether gutteral in vocal nature or howling like a wild dog at the moon, you can't trick smart people into liking something that doesn't come from some special place within you. Every song we do in BV attempts to be presented that way. We have the greatest fan base around and plan to keep them happy by writing a lot more tunes!
