Hmmm...where do I start. Well, in the beginning, I thought I was going to play short-stop for a major league team one day, but that notion ended when Rock-n-Roll consumed my soul.
The first song I ever learned to play was "Stand by me". I had to be around twelve years old at the time, and I was strummin' away at an acoustic guitar that Santa Claus had brought me for christmas years before. I had no idea how to play the thing, I'd just walk around pretending I was a "Guitar Hero". So my dad asks to see the guitar, and he just starts plucking some notes, he didn't know how to play either, but we both heard the intro to "Stand by me " in the notes he was hitting. I went back to my room and just kept playing that song over and over again.
I think the amazement for me was, that when I wasn't playing there was silence, but when I starting hitting those notes I was filling the room with music, not just noise, but music.
That year Santa Claus hooked me up again, but this time was the real deal, an "electric guitar". The first thing I did after strapping that thing on, was turn on MTV. Def Leppard's "Pour some sugar on me" was already playing, and I remember jumpin' on and off the couch, and runnin around checkin' myself out in the mirror, like I was on stage jammin' right with those guys. That was it for me I knew right then I wanted to be in a band.
I took lessons for a year, but got bored pretty quick. I was into writng my own stuff, and my ear allowed me to learn a lot of songs just by listening to them. A lot of peolpe don't know this about me, but I am a big fan of classical music. I even took classical guitar lessons for almost a year.
I've been in a few bands throughout the years, everything from punk to full out heavy metal. But I Like where I landed. Broken Vegas is a hard hitting Rock-n-Roll band, and the guys in this band are some of the coolest, most talented guys I've ever jammed with. We ain't just makin' noise either, we're writing music, damn good music.
